DUAL RECOVERY PROGRAM
If mental health problems are contributing to your substance use disorder, this program can help you address both issues together.
Our dual recovery program is a comprehensive recovery oriented program that can help you deal with both your substance use and mental health disorders at the same time. This program can also help a close friend or family member affected by your substance use disorder deal with what you're going through.
Recovery is a complex process. Dual recovery is focused on addressing all the different factors of your recovery. If you’re facing chemical or alcohol dependency alongside obstacles like unstable mental health, uncontrolled anger or disconnection from your family, you may feel you can’t cope with everything at once. The dual recovery program is designed to help you face those challenges one at a time, then as a whole. You may need help improving life skills, social connectedness and job readiness, or you may need to address legal issues if your recovery is mandated from one of the city’s court systems. We understand the complex nature of these challenges and will work with you to create a solid foundation for addressing different issues within your life.
You'll develop a comprehensive recovery plan for reintegrating your life with your family and the larger community.
Evidence-Based Practices enable staff to develop a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan for you with measurable goals and objectives. The staff that run dual recovery includes Masters’- and Ph.D.-level clinical social workers, a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), two nurse practitioners and a board certified psychiatrist. Your individual treatment plan will be based on a personal understanding of your situation. With counseling, you’ll gain new coping skills that can help you make a personal and effective commitment to recovery.
LESC receives OASAS funding to provide Enhanced Outpatient Services (EOS) for up to 16 chemically dependent clients. If you join in the enhanced schedule, you can participate in groups that help you develop social and vocational skills and start to address other aspects of the recovery process, including the consequences of substance abuse and relapse prevention. You'll also have access to comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, psychiatric assessments and psychoeducational testing designed to help you understand the mental processes behind your actions. The EOS program is a blend of individual or group counseling sessions, family therapy and counseling for significant others, medication management and educational/vocational evaluations. Some EOS services take place as evening group programs (also called the Sunset Program) which focus on areas of relapse prevention, recovery support, interpersonal skills development, vocational support and socialization.
A balance of work and play. Dual recovery clients will advance their recoveries through hard work, but they can also enjoy program activities for fun, such as group visits to museums, movies and pizza parties. The graduation ceremony for dual recovery certificates is also a fun event.
