At LESC, we understand the fear and uncertainty that can cloud the path to recovery from substance use disorder. That’s why Sabrina Mangual, our dedicated Intake Coordinator, guides individuals every step of the way.
Sabrina isn’t just an employee at LESC’s residential recovery treatment center, Su Casa – with over 25 years of experience, she’s a beacon of hope for individuals seeking substance use disorder treatment. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the LESC team and a genuine passion for helping people overcome the stigma surrounding addiction so they can build fulfilling lives.
“If someone doesn’t contact us, then we don’t know they need help,” said Sabrina, and that’s exactly why she does everything she can to be available for potential clients. Whether it’s through phone calls, in-person meetings, emails, or website messages, Sabrina is here to help individuals make the initial connection they need to start their journey toward recovery at Su Casa in NYC.
By exploring how Sabrina and the entire LESC team can help individuals navigate the intake process and conquer common hurdles that often prevent them from seeking help, we hope to encourage people to reach out to LESC.
Navigate the Intake Process: A Smooth Start with Sabrina at LESC
At LESC, we understand that coming into treatment for the first time can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, Sabrina, our Intake Coordinator, and her team, are here to make the process as smooth and supportive as possible. “Most of my day, whether they’re face-to-face, if they’re here for admission or medical screening, or if they’re calling, my full day is packed with communicating with clients,” said Sabrina. “My door is always open.”
Taking that initial step is always the hardest, and understanding the process can sometimes take the fear away. At LESC, our intake process at the Su Casa Residential Redesign Program is straightforward to ensure there are no obstacles to getting the treatment you deserve.
- Making Contact: “Whether you call the general number or use the chatbot,” Sabrina emphasizes the importance of reaching out. She wants to connect with individuals and answer any questions they might have.
- Initial Conversation: Sabrina will conduct a baseline screening to understand each person’s needs and situation. She highlights, “I always explain what it is that we do here.” This conversation helps determine if LESC is the right fit.
- Documentation and Verification: If someone is currently in an outpatient program, Sabrina will request documentation from the counselor. “They know the client better than anyone,” she explains. This ensures a smooth transition into LESC’s residential recovery program.
- Medical Evaluation: Once the initial screening is completed, we schedule a visit with a medical provider at LESC. This includes a physical exam, blood work, and a toxicology screening.
Sabrina prioritizes a timely intake process and ensures all the necessary steps are completed for a safe and effective start to treatment. She will schedule an admission date once everything checks out and beds are available in the Su Casa Residential Treatment Program.
She emphasizes, “It’s a big commitment,” acknowledging the importance of this decision for each individual she meets with. Sabrina is available to answer questions, address concerns, and provide ongoing support throughout the intake process for Su Casa. LESC aims to make this initial step as comfortable and stress-free as possible so individuals feel empowered to take such a big step in their recovery journey.
Hurdles to Treatment: Finding the Courage to Seek Help
Considering treatment for a substance use disorder is a courageous first step. But it’s natural to encounter hurdles along the way. Sabrina sheds light on some of the most common challenges and how LESC can help remove the fear so individuals can focus on recovery.
Shame and fear can be powerful deterrents, but Sabrina assures clients with empathy: “I know there’s a hope for something better. That’s it. It’s okay; you don’t have hope. I’ll hope for you. I’ll hope for you until you can hope for yourself.” LESC provides a safe, compassionate, and loving environment, free from the stigma that often surrounds addiction.
Letting go of control can be a scary thought. Sabrina understands this fear. “It takes a strong person to be able to say, ‘I need to get help, and I need to walk away. And in order for me to get the help, this is what’s going to have to happen. And if I don’t do it now, I never will,’” she explains. She assures clients at the Su Casa Residential Redesign Treatment Program that there’s structure and freedom. LESC’s program offers guidance and helps clients regain control of their lives in a healthy way.
Individuals often worry about losing their jobs, homes, and kids upon entering residential recovery. These are valid concerns, and Sabrina offers practical solutions. LESC has flexible treatment options to minimize disruptions to work and family life. Additionally, Sabrina can connect them with resources to help manage these concerns during treatment.
Many people simply don’t know where to start their journey to substance use disorder treatment. Sabrina highlights, “They don’t know what treatment looks like.” Here, Sabrina excels. She patiently explains the different treatment options at LESC, tailoring the approach to each individual’s needs. With Sabrina’s guidance and LESC’s comprehensive approach, clients can overcome these hurdles and embark on a journey of healing and recovery. No one has to do it alone. LESC Su Casa is here to be a partner in achieving lasting well-being.
