Helping Recovery Become Reality

The LESC Continuing Day Treatment Program (CDT) is a well-established Cantonese speaking treatment program with a 24-year history of serving the mental health needs of the New York City area’s Chinese community. CDT, licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, provides a professional and structured refuge for Chinese New Yorkers who struggle with mental and emotional issues.

Our program provides goal setting, support, education, training and hope for an intimate group of 20 clients who are seriously depressed, schizophrenic and/or bi-polar. The Continuing Day Treatment Program offers clients four-hours of treatment 5-days each week. Our clients participate in, and benefit from, individual, group and family counseling dealing with daily living skills, stress and relaxation, crisis management, healthcare, English language and job preparedness. As a result, some of our clients return to the workforce.

Having an on-site Psychiatrist, our clients are able to benefit from psychiatric assessments, consultations, and evaluations; as well as prescribed and monitored chemical therapy. CDT offers family support group sessions providing psychodynamic education on living with family members and their mental health needs.

The program values our clients’ Chinese culture by celebrating Chinese holidays, honoring Chinese customs and speaking Cantonese. Our clients have the opportunity to enjoy entertainment and recreation at CDT. They take trips together to museums, Circle Line tours and city parks. During their weekly treatment, they join together in song, and excel at arts and crafts projects.

The LESC Continuing Day Treatment Program generates wonderful results. Our expert, experienced, caring and culturally oriented professional team helps clients with self-esteem, social connectedness and self-sufficiency resulting in a normalization of their lives.
