What medication is used during Medication-Assisted Treatment at LESC?
LESC offers Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with methadone, buprenorphine and Vivitrol to treat opioid use disorder and medications to assist individuals with alcohol use disorder. Learn more about our opioid treatment programs.
How long does the tapering process take?
The tapering process is individualized and It depends on a person’s needs and goals. Tapering to abstinence is done at a clinically appropriate pace, in either a residential or outpatient treatment setting. Our Medication to Abstinence Residence (MTAR) Program takes place at Su Casa and offers a wide range of services and evidenced-based practices, including individual and group therapy, on site primary medical care and vocational services, while our Outpatient Opioid Treatment Program includes evidence-based practices, individual and group sessions, and on site vocational services. Is abstinence from drugs always the goal?
No. At LESC, tapering to abstinence is optional. Some of our clients continue MAT treatment through our Outpatient Opioid Treatment Program, while others continue MAT in our Medication Assisted Maintenance Residence program at Su Casa.
What addictions do you treat?
The opioid addictions we treat are for prescription pain medication, heroin and fentanyl. We also treat clients who are dependent on alcohol, cocaine, majijuana and other illicit substances. Learn more about our opioid treatment programs.

Do you treat pregnant women who are dependent on opioids?
Yes. Our renowned expectant mothers residential program at Su Casa combines Medication-Assisted Treatment and prenatal care to help residents deliver healthy babies. What if I need help finding housing or getting a job?
In addition to clinical and medical support services, our programs provide vocational, educational, and assistance with financial services, so our clients can get well, return to their communities and start new and healthy lives. What is the admissions criteria for LESC’s treatment programs?
You have to be at least 18 years of age, be currently dependent on opioids or other substances, and be willing and able to participate in our programs. We require identification. We also support family members and loved ones adversely affected by a person with substance use disorders through counseling and connections to community supports. Most of our clients come from New York City and the surrounding areas.
