Breaking Free: Domitilo’s Journey Through Recovery and the Power of LESC

Addiction can feel like heavy chains weighing people down, making empty promises while slowly stealing everything that matters. Domitilo Correa knows this truth all too well. His journey began at a young age, with a descent into a harmful addiction that threatened to consume his life, but within him was a search for something better. This is the story of how Domitilo broke free from the chains of addiction, not alone but with the unwavering support of the team at LESC.

Domitilo’s Will to Find Hope in Unexpected Places

Domitilo’s story is far too common. “You want me to start with my story? But I don’t want to get into a war story and all of that stuff. I started, of course, at an early age, using,” Domitilo remembers. “And I want to say, by 12, 13, it started with, like mostly marijuana and alcohol.” This early exposure quickly escalated. “So, you know, the progression was quick, 6, 7 years. And then, by my twenties, I was already really strung out. Ways and means to get more and use more was all I thought about.”

Years of battling with his substance use addiction left Domitilo searching for a way out. Traditional treatment centers, he says, “were definitely not diagnosing people with a disease of addiction,” leaving him feeling hopeless. It was through Narcotics Anonymous meetings that Domitilo finally found some actual hope that eventually led him to LESC’s Su Casa residential treatment program. LESC provided the lifeline he’d been searching for.

Hope and Healing at LESC

Finding LESC marked a turning point for Domitilo. Unlike other programs he’d encountered, LESC’s Su Casa program offered a comprehensive approach that addressed not just the physical symptoms of addiction but also the underlying emotional and psychological factors that contributed to it. “Well, going into LESC was the first time that I actually not only saw people that were able to stop using and kind of be normal, but it was also the first time that I started learning about emotions, feelings, and things like that,” he shares. This focus on emotional understanding was a turning point for Domitilo. For years, he had masked his pain and vulnerabilities with substance use. LESC provided him with the tools to understand and process his emotions in a healthy way.

The impact of LESC on Domitilo’s life is evident when speaking to him. “I not only have a life today, I have a life beyond my wildest dreams. I have a life that I never had before,” he says with powerful conviction. “Even with relapse as part of my story, it wasn’t the end of my story. I was able to really turn that around. It blows me away how my life is today, you know? Today I am 16 years and four months clean – without the use of drugs, alcohol, or anything.”

With the support system and services he received at LESC, he overcame obstacles and stayed committed to his recovery journey. His story is a testament to the transformative power of LESC’s programs like Su Casa. Recovery is possible with the right support guiding you through the journey.

Why Choose LESC: Domitilo’s Message of Hope

Domitilo’s voice carries a clear message for those struggling with addiction: there is hope, and there is help. “I definitely connect with love at LESC because of the people that you’re in there with. And even after all these years of me being out of Su Casa, I have a connection to LESC. I still talk to a lot of the alumni graduates. I’m proud to be an alumni graduate of LESC, of Su Casa. You know, it’s the friendships and the connections and the love you get from people you meet in there. Sometimes, it’s a bigger connection than your own blood relatives.” This love is a cornerstone of LESC’s approach, and Domitilo recognizes its profound impact. Years of masking his pain with substances left him ill-equipped to navigate the complexities of life. LESC gave him the skills to break this cycle and find the support he needed to recover.

Without LESC, Domitilo acknowledges the potential for a very different reality. “Without LESC, I would probably be dead,” he says with a somber honesty. The destructive cycle of addiction could have continued, robbing him of the resilient recovery he is living today.

Domitilo’s journey is a beacon of hope, and a testament to the life-changing power of LESC. His story serves as a powerful motivator for those considering treatment. Seeking help is the best way to reclaim your life, and build a future filled with possibilities.
