The Flexibility to Recover, Work, and Care for Your Family
The LESC Outpatient Maintenance Program provides regular medication-assisted substance addiction treatment to clients who need to continue to work and care for their families. The services are available on an outpatient basis and offer clients a degree of flexibility not possible in residential programs. This outpatient treatment program is available for those struggling with addiction to prescription pain medication, heroin, and fentanyl. It works by using medication to decrease an individual’s craving for their substance of choice. LESC Outpatient Maintenance Recovery includes Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in combination with evidence-based practices, individual and group counseling sessions, and on-site vocational services. MAT has proven to be effective in treating substance use disorders, easing withdrawal, promoting sustained recovery, and preventing overdose.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Supports Resilient Recovery
Because methadone and buprenorphine are opioids, some people believe that treating addiction with these drugs simply substitutes one substance for another. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) asserts that MAT does not replace one drug problem with another drug and confirms that MAT is only effective as a treatment for addiction when combined with intensive behavioral therapy. MAT can alleviate the more severe symptoms associated with opioid withdrawal and help eliminate cravings. Our outpatient treatment program uses MAT practices to help clients stabilize, abstain from using opioid drugs, and lead productive lives. Clients may also complete the optional tapering phase, then continue with monthly support from the program.
“Clients can walk in. They can also be referred from another program if they feel that our program may meet their interest due to our convenient location,” explained Victor Gonzales, LESC Director for the Opioid Recovery Services. “They are welcome to come in from any other state and relocate to LESC, and we will be in contact with their referring clinic out of state. Then, according to regulations, the client will be assessed to determine eligibility based on their opioid dependent history, and whether they have been to a detox or rehab – which is preferable in order to come into a methadone program,” he added.
The First Step is Stabilization
It’s not uncommon for clients to feel pretty sick when they first arrive at the LESC Outpatient Maintenance Recovery Program. Our expert nursing team provides quick support and safe medication assistance. Relapse is a genuine concern for many people in recovery. That’s why connecting clients with a complete range of supportive services makes it less likely that clients will relapse. Within one day, clients are assigned a primary counselor to guide and support the recovery process.
Next is a Personalized Approach to Recovery
At LESC, we approach every client’s treatment and recovery through individual and group counseling, vocational services, and medical treatment when necessary. Personalized outpatient treatment plans are a collaborative effort between clients and LESC clinicians. These short-term and long-term goals are approved by an interdisciplinary team – including the LESC Medical Director, our registered nurse, and a social worker.
