The Partnership Methadone-to-Abstinence Residence (MTAR) is a 6 to 9-month residential recovery experience for people choosing to become drug-free and more productive members of their communities. This program, located in Brooklyn, is similar to our Su Casa MTAR but has a shorter duration. This treatment program is a therapeutic community (TC) for opiate dependent New Yorkers where the primary goal is to foster personal growth and healthier lifestyles through a community of residents and staff members working closely together. |

Clients living at The Partnership are referred to our TC residence by outpatient programs and court systems where they have been unable to successfully manage recovery. For many, The Partnership is their only hope to reconnect with their families, friends, neighbors and even themselves.
When clients arrive they are warmly greeted by our experienced and highly educated staff, assigned a counselor and involved in developing their own personal treatment plan. Once they are living and recovering at The Partnership, they no longer have to worry about a place to live, food, clothing, medical care, job training or safety and can focus on their new community of peers, abstinence and recovery. |

An early priority of the program is to help clients become drug-free. As soon as clients are admitted, they are slowly, safely and smoothly tapered off of methadone. With the guidance and support of counselors, each resident begins to connect with his or her new family of peers. Peer pressure and group interaction are regularly catalysts for converting personal insight and criticism into positive change. Residents and staff stress personal responsibility for individual advancement. |

During every resident’s stay at The Partnership, they must work their recovery through six-phases of treatment culminating in the cherished graduation ceremony. The Partnership encourages residents to strongly focus on treatment issues in group and individual settings. They address: education, social skills, housing, managing money, marital and family counseling, co-occurring disorders and vocational assessment and placement. Through family counseling, family reconciliation is often a positive side effect of the program.
Even though treatment is hard work for residents, they also consistently enjoy delicious and plentiful meals, family visits and events, exercise, entertainment, culture and many social connectedness and life skills learning opportunities, such as: Yankees and Mets baseball games, amusement park visits, and fitness workouts. |
